A couple more inches of snow.

A bit warmer.

We went to the dealer and picked up the Pontiac. The instruments are in backwards from the other cars. fuel/speedo on the left temp./tach. on the right. I thought I had a quarter tank of gas but it was the temp. gage sort of thing. Anyway we got home and things are normal, running well. I tried to get a spare key made but NAPA didn't have the right blank.
The snow took a hit with the rain we got yesterday. All four backstops are visable at the horseshoe pits now. There is still a foot of snow there. I walked across the snow and measured it. I took down an.049 powered plane and got some 40 foot lines for it. I may try to fly it soon if the weather holds out. I don't have enough room to fly the other planes yet. I just noticed a second virgule on the keyboard. //\\ Neato.

Cold again.

14 degrees and windy as hell. There had been some melting of the snow but not now. There is still a foot of it in the yard.
I made it to horseshoes finally. After people cancelling out there was only 5 in my class. I lost 4 games. I practice a lot and things get worse, I don't practice and things get worse. I think it's because the shoes I use don't have any ringers in them.
The free planes went right away. Now to get them to the new owner. Probably do it on Tuesday at the horseshoe place as I go there and the new owner can get there too.

First time in a long time.

The temp. is in the 50's today. some of the snow is melting finally. Still got a foot on the ground in most places. I took a walk around the paths I cleared with the snow blower. I trudged through the snow to the big spruce tree near the road and stood on bare ground. About 10' dia. circle around the tree is bare, the only bare spot in the yard. The second horseshoe pit back board is starting to poke through the snow today. They are 14" high as are the pegs. It will be a long time until the snow is gone.
We picked up a rent a car this morning as getting it tomorrow will be a big hassle. It looks like I'll be able to make the horseshoe games on Sat. morning
I picked through the planes I don't plan to use any time soon and put 5 of them on a forum for free. Pick up only so it may take a while to get rid of them. I have 14 left here.

Results of cabin fever.

Cold again.

I managed to get both planes painted during the warm spell. I wasn't sure about the colors I used on the Lightning but it worked well. Krylon yellow and blue used in a design copied from someone else. It applied paint in the areas that needed covering. It loods like the weights will be in the high 40 ounce range which is good. I'm going to let the paint cure until it warms up a bit before putting on the clear coat. I have both planes in the computer/Dyana's room to stay warm.
Everything froze last night with the temps hitting 8 degrees this morning. The snow pack is going down very slowly. A couple inches in 10 days. It's still over the stakes in my horseshoe pits and they are 15 inches above ground. Roofs are caving in all over the place. Lots of ads for roof shoveling in the Turnpike Buyer. And lots of injuries from people falling off roofs.

Warming trend, I hope.

While watching TV last night I noticed a flash outside. No cars went by and I was puzzled until the thunder clap hit. I looked out and it was raining hard and the temp. had risen to 40 degrees. The temp stayed above freezing all night with a strong wind so some melting should have taken place. Maybe I'll get to masking a plane or two today.
The Sorel link didn't work so I looked up the web site. Stingray skin boots for $800.00. That's enough to scare anybody.
Horseshoes turned to poop yesterday. The games were cancelled as the heater broke and I left before the call. I pitched for 30 minutes and came home. It's snowed on Tuesday for the last 3 weeks. And forecast to snow again this week.

More cold and snow.

I've been getting wet feet when clearing the drive and roofs of snow for the last few years. I glued the sole of the shoes I found at the bulky waste site back together and the glue joint has failed. I got some Goop and glued them back together again. For the interim I'll use the pair I with the steel toes.
I started drawing the paint lines on the Vector wing. It looks like I will be able to hide most of the repair spots. I found some masking paper at Lowes but it will be some time before I get to the actual painting. The same with the Lightning. I still need some blue fine line tape.
